Love, etc.: ‘Joe the Plumber’ gets married

Married: Samuel J Wurzelbacher, 37 — better known as GOP 2008 icon “Joe the Plumber” — and Katie Schanen, in Maumee, Ohio, Saturday. He told us he met the Wisconsin native about three years ago, shortly after his impromptu campaign-stop quizzing of Barack Obama on tax policy launched him to national fame and a career on the speaking circuit. At one such event, “I noticed her, and we kind of hit it off. . . I never sold my patriotism, never made millions of dollars, and she stuck with me anyway.” He has one son, 16. (He declined to divulge their ages — we looked his up — or say if either have been married before.) Wurzelbacher last week filed papers to run as a Republican for Congress in Ohio’s newly redistricted 9th, where incumbents Dennis Kucinich and Marcy Kaptur will likely compete in the Democratic primary; he said he plans to make an official announcement Oct. 25.
