Their music hasn’t inspired controversy in years, but Naughty By Nature’s 1991 hit, “Uptown Anthem,” just got their label slapped with a fresh lawsuit. As AllHipHop.com reports, the trio’s ’90s tune samples the three-syllable phrase “we gonna,” from Funky 4 Plus 1’s seminal 1980 single, “That’s the Joint.” Allegedly, the sample was never officially cleared, and Sugarhill Music is crying foul 21 years after the fact. Sugarhill hasn’t named any artists in its lawsuit, instead going after Warner-Chappell Music directly for the song’s profits and any possible damages incurred as a result of the alleged copyright infringement.

Man meets wife

The former teen heartthrob Rider Strong, star of ABC’s “Boy Meets Girl,” just announced he’s getting hitched. On Wednesday, Strong offered longtime sweetheart Alexandra Barreto an engagement ring he made himself and, according to E! Online , Barreto said yes. The two met in 2006 on a short-lived WB series, “Pepper Dennis,” and worked together again on a campaign video for Barack Obama. The newly engaged 33-year-old recently told fans he would not officially participate in “Girl Meets World,” the Disney Channel’s upcoming reboot of his ’90s TV series. “It would be nice to find out where our characters have been all these years,” Strong said, but he won’t be joining former co-stars Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel as primary characters. There may still be hope for Rider fans anxious to see him reprise his old role as Shawn Hunter; Rider held open the possibility of walk-ons, noting, “There might be a chance to see some of the ‘BMW’ cast in a guest spot.”

Third time’s the charm

It seems Jack Dawson of “Titanic” has finally let Rose go. On-screen co-star Leonardo DiCaprio not only attended but gave away the bride at Kate Winslet’s recent, super-secret wedding ceremony, People reports. Unbeknownst to even her parents, Winslet wed Ned Rocknroll in a private New York ceremony this week. The eccentric groom is the nephew of Richard Branson, founder of Virgin Records and Virgin Atlantic, and is also an executive for Branson’s space travel venture, Virgin Galactic. Rocknroll, born Ned Abel Smith, is Winslet’s third husband; she was previously married to director Sam Mendes and Jim Threapleton.
