As top lawmakers convened at the White House to wrangle over the debt crisis Monday, Nancy Pelosi volunteered a surprising little anecdote about bipartisanship, according to a GOP aide familiar with the conversation.
Just last week, she told the group, she sent flowers to George W. Bush for his birthday. (His 65th, if you forgot.)
Huh. The minority leader, 71, is a prolific sender of flowers, cards, etc., but we had to know — what prompted this? Her note on the bouquet, we’re told: “Mr. President, Happy Birthday! Welcome to the Medicare years!”
