Newt Gingrich, Ruth Bader Ginsburg attend WNO’s low-key season opener

Saturday’s opening-night gala of the Washington National Opera’s “Tosca” was very low-key (not surprising, given it was the eve of 9/11 memorials) but boasted a few big names, notably Newt and Callista Gingrich (who skipped the post-performance dinner), Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Placido Domingo, conducting this “Tosca” exactly 50 years after he first starred in a Mexico City production at age 20. Taking care of business: Kennedy Center chairman David Rubenstein, president Michael Kaiser and opera president Jim Feldman, all celebrating the new partnership between the arts center and the opera company.
