Piers Morgan denies MP’s phone-hacking claims

Was CNN host Piers Morgan a phone hacker, too? Yes, claimed British MP Louise Mensch during Parliament’s grilling of News of the World owner Rupert Murdoch and his son James. Mensch said that Morgan — former editor of Britain’s Daily Mirror tabloid — bragged in his 2005 memoir about his paper winning an award for a story obtained through eavesdropping on a local celebrity’s phone. Except that . . . a check of the book, “The Insider,” finds no such incident, reports our colleague Paul Farhi. Morgan tweeted Tuesday that it’s all rubbish: “I’ve never hacked a phone, told anyone to hack a phone, or published any stories based on the hacking of a phone.” (Then he urged all his followers to check out the book.)
