Queen Margrethe of Denmark visits the Kennedy Center and the Hill

While the German chancellor was being toasted at a White House state dinner Tuesday night, a fellow Northern European head of state was being feted in quieter style at the Kennedy Center. Queen Margrethe II of Denmark was the guest of honor for the opening night of the Royal Danish Ballet. The monarch stopped by earlier in the afternoon to say hi at a rehearsal, then took tea with Vicki Kennedy. At the ballet that night, she was presented with daisies by the granddaughter of her fellow Dane, Steny Hoyer. (The minority whip gave the queen a tour of his office Wednesday, reports the Hill, showing off his model of a Viking ship.)
