“You don’t have sex near unicorns. It’s an ironclad rule. It’s tacky.”

— J.K. Rowling on why she abandoned the fantasy genre of her “Harry Potter” books to write “The Casual Vacancy,” an adult novel set in contemporary Britain. “There are certain things you just don’t do in fantasy,” she told the New Yorker, and she wanted a change of pace.
