Quoted: Luther Campbell on going from raunchy rapper to mayoral candidate

“When you got a Senate subcommittee hearing on the lyrics, you get really lost if you’re not politically savvy.”

Luther Campbell explaining to the Associated Press how his raunchy early ’90s rap career with 2 Live Crew — inspiring “Parental Advisory” stickers and an obscenity case that nearly went to the Supreme Court — made him a “political junkie,” and now candidate for Miami-Dade mayor. His platform: Government transparency, a licensing fee for strippers.
