“Don’t fall into the trap of believing you are really a gangster. . . It’s time you squash your beefs.”
— Luther Campbell in an open letter warning rapper Rick Ross — who last week wrecked his Rolls fleeing a drive-by shooting — that he could destroy his career or life if he continues to affect a street pose. Some gang members reportedly have threatened Ross for name-dropping them in songs. “These bad dudes,” warns Campbell, the once-raunchy former 2 Live Crew frontman who now has a weekly elder-statesman column in the Miami New Times, “don’t understand the concept of public domain.”
