For an essay hailing the mercurial, smart-aleck hip-hop star as an “American Mozart,” the magazine confronted POTUS about his 2009 live-mike episode in which he called West a “jackass” in what he thought was off-the-record banter with a CNBC reporter — and darned if Obama didn’t double down. Said he prefers Jay-Z, though.
