Quoted: The candidate who changed his name to ‘Thomas Jefferson’

The original Thomas Jefferson, not to be confused with the congressional candidate originally known as Jack Talbert. (Rembrandt Peale portrait via AP)

“Half will think I’m committed to the Libertarian Party, and the other half will probably think I should be committed.”

— The former Jack Talbert, who legally changed his name to Thomas Jefferson to make a better splash on the ballot in his long-shot run for a congressional seat from Kansas. He told the Topeka Capital-Journal that his wife is only committed to using his new name “if I do something stupid, like, ‘C’mon, Thomas, use your brain.’”
