Read this: Barack Obama at 50; New Yorker on Bin Laden

U.S. President Barack Obama. (Joshua Roberts/ Bloomberg)
Barack Obama turns 50, only the third president in 130 years to hit that milestone in the White House. In Washington terms, it makes him an awkward tweener -- no longer a wonder boy but not yet an eminence, notes Manuel Roig-Franzia, who tests the theory with a variety of Beltway 50-somethings. . . The president will celebrate his 50th birthday with not just a Chicago fundraiser tonight but also an intimate Rose Garden gathering Thursday for a couple hundred pals, reports Al Kamen.

In other news: Meet the kid -- okay, 32-year-old freelancer -- who wrote the New Yorker story about the Bin Laden raid everyone’s talking about. Paul Farhi raises an eyebrow at some of his attribution, but still: some story.
