Read this: Eleanor Mondale; Kara Kennedy; Ron Suskind White House book; Patricia Racette

Mondale on the 1984 campaign trail. (Charlie Knoblock/AP)
Sad obits of the day: Two Democratic political daughters have died, both at the age of 51. Kara Kennedy (Ted’s oldest) succumbed to a heart attack, a decade after a long battle with lung cancer. And Eleanor Mondale (Walter’s middle child) suffered from brain cancer. They both have very interesting obituaries. Go read them.

Journalist Ron Suskind portrays a dysfunctional, even sexist office culture at the White House in his insidery new book, report our colleagues Peter Wallsten and Zachary Goldfarb — though now, of course, top officials (Anita Dunn, Christina Romer, Larry Summers) are claiming he totally misquoted them.

Opera can be dangerous! See how diva Patricia Racette pulls off her spectacular suicide jump in “Tosca.”
