Local millionaire — Kevin Plank, the 38-year-old Under Armour mogul — aims to win the Triple Crown and revive Maryland horse racing. Good luck with that! (Sorry, ladies, he’s taken. Put away your big Derby hats.)

Since she was shot, Gabrielle Giffords has started writing with her left hand instead of her right. Her voice sounds the same, though, and she’s holding her own with sarcasm. The Arizona congresswoman made a rare trip to see her husband blast off with space shuttle Endeavour.

In other news, former Egyptian first lady Suzanne Mubarak has been forced to give up her villa, and several millions, back to the state.

“The voters can tolerate messy and complicated, but they have very little patience for being lied to. They are not looking for June Cleaver.”

— GOP strategist Nicolle Wallace, in a story on how the messy marital pasts of Mitch Daniels and Newt Gingrich could affect their 2012 campaigns.
