Oprah Winfrey just had to find out who did Michelle Obama’s makeup, and that’s how she, too, came to hire D.C. face artist Derrick Rutledge. She had earlier admired his work on Patti LaBelle, but backed off in deference to the diva code: “You don’t mess with other people’s people,” she tells Keith Alexander. Meet the makeup guy (photos and video too!).

Broadway veteran Ken Ludwig is debuting his latest work (“Midsummer/Jersey,” a Snooki-inspired take on Shakespeare) at a Fairfax, Va., high school. Seems that a playwright can make a nice revenue stream by crafting works for the teenage market, reports Peter Marks.
