Quvenzhane Wallis, the 9-year-old Best Actress nominee, on the challenges of her role in “Beast of the Southern Wild” — the muck and mosquitos and weird creatures she encountered while filming in Louisiana. The young star spoke at a panel discussion at GALA Hispanic Theatre in Washington this week, reports Jessica Goldstein. She continued her D.C. charm offensive with a visit to the White House Wednesday, for a Black History Month Q&A with the first lady.
