Other interesting stories in The Washington Post:

Lots more Miss Universe photos (David Becker/Getty Images)
Miss USA Olivia Culpo was crowned Miss Universe in Las Vegas last night, and you know why this matters? Because we think this maybe possibly means that Miss Maryland Nana Meriwether, the Beltway native and Sidwell Friends grad who was her first runner-up last spring, now takes over at Miss USA. (We’re now consulting the Miss USA handbook on this with the assistance of our lawyers.) And if not, well, hey, that could have almost been Meriwether ruling the galaxy. (Related: Donald Trump wins $5 million libel claim against Miss Pennsylvania. No, really.)

Daniel Day-Lewis with Doris Kearns Goodwin (Michael Reynolds/EPA)
Steven Spielberg and Daniel Day-Lewis came to the U.S. Capitol to host a special bi-partisan screening for lawmakers. Unfortunately reporters weren’t allowed in. But there were photos at least.

In other news: A former Washington Post reporter wants a seat on the D.C. Council.
