Rep. Tim Ryan, meditation advocate, avoids prosecution on intoxication charges

Rep. Tim Ryan (Bill Clark/CQ Roll Call)
Rep. Tim Ryan, the Hill’s leading proponent of meditation, was arrested in August for public intoxication but kept it under wraps until Tuesday, reports our colleague Aaron Blake, when the misdemeanor case was dismissed. The Ohio Democrat was attending a wedding in Lexington, Va., when he was arrested and pleaded not guilty — he refused a Breathalyzer test and blamed his awkward walk on a sore back, reports the Plain Dealer. All this from the same guy who wrote “A Mindful Nation,” a book on meditation and stress relief:“Our basic nature is not unadulterated self-indulgence and consumption. Our spirit is not violent.” Or should that be spirits?
