Surreal estate: Chris Cooley puts mansion on market

Chris Cooley (Susan Biddle for The Washington Post)
Seller: Chris Cooley

Asking price: $2.5 million

Details: The popular NFL tight end has always been a larger-than-life kind of guy, so you won’t be surprised by his stone-sided Leesburg mansion, sprawling over more than 10,000 square feet on 3.67 acres. Six bedrooms, nine bathrooms, four-car garage, one elevator. Media room? Check. Spa/pool? Naturally. Wine cellar? You have to ask? Fireplace? Three of them. Lots of changes going on in Cooley’s life these days — splitting from both the Redskins and his wife, Christy — and now he’s looking to sell the home he bought in 2007, near the top of the market, for $2.85 million. Unclear where he’s moving, but he’s made it clear that the Washington area is home.

Earlier: Catching up with Chris Cooley — off the roster, but still a Redskin, 10/3/12

More Reliable Source: White House celebrity visitors; Howard Homecoming VIPs; Adele’s baby; Axelrod lookalikes; Dinesh D’Souza; political photo ops
