Tim Geithner had a pretty good finish in Nation’s Triathlon

Fast for his age! The Treasury secretary at a panel discussion in July. (Mario Anzuoni/Reuters)
With no advance fanfare, Tim Geithner quietly completed the Nation’s Triathlon in not-bad-not-bad-at-all time Sunday morning. Race organizers didn’t even know the Treasury secretary, 51, was among the 5,000 entrants until they spotted him cross the finish line in West Potomac Park. His time of 2:33:07 for the 1500-meter swim, 40K bike ride and 10K run placed him ninth in his age class.

Who knew he was so sporty? Guess we just weren’t paying attention: Records show he competed in the Reston Triathlon several years ago and ran a half-marathon in California two years ago, finishing in 2:11.
