Well, this was different: A day after the news whirlwind surrounding his runaway wife’s affair with a rock star, Tareq Salahi made a quiet appearance in public Thursday night.

At an Capitol Hill reception celebrating positive role models in showbiz.

With Lindsay Lohan’s dad as his wingman.

No, really! Witnesses tell us that Salahi and Michael Lohan stood in the back of the room for the Entertainment Industries Council PRISM Awards showcase, honoring accurate depictions of drug addition and treatment in entertainment, at the Rayburn House office building. (Now you're asking: “Did they crash?” Oh, that joke is so 2009. While the two were not expected at the event, we’re told that Lohan — who has publicly discussed his recovery from alcholism — had previously been involved judging PRISM nominees.)

The two kept a relatively low profile at the gathering. It was only later that they spoke to a conveniently available TMZ cameraman, explaining that Lohan was in town to comfort Tareq about his breakup with Michaele. . . and subsequently that he is filing for divorce.

We’ll bring you more as we deem it relevant.
