Judd Watch: Ashley Judd at the White House, on the big screen

An ongoing feature tracking Ashley Judd’s maybe-possible bid for U.S. Senate.

Is it serious if she’s having meetings at the White House? Well, not necessarily: We’ve learned by way of something Angela Bassett mentioned at a movie-promoting junket that Judd was among the VIPs (also, Bassett, Reese Witherspoon) at a recent luncheon with the first lady — but the White House tells us it was just a thank-you gathering for the Obama campaign’s celebvocates, nothing to do with a Judd 2014 Senate bid. Meanwhile, anonymous sources are telling the Huffington Post that she says she really is going to run, while Judd is continuing to issue artful non-denial denials. The DSCC is being coy — still other Kentucky Democrats in the mix.

But back to her day job (acting, you may recall): In “Olympus Has Fallen,” the new terrorists-seize-the-White House action flick opening next week, it turns out that Judd plays the first lady.
