Carrie Fisher on her manic episode: ‘Metaphors be with you’

“I was trapped in a metaphor. Everything I looked at had a meaning. Everything was a warning or a sign. . . ‘Metaphors be with you.’ That’s the big gag I got out of it.”

 

Carrie Fisher on the manic episode she suffered (“I wasn’t sleeping. I was writing on everything”) while entertaining on a cruise ship, an episode that prompted her hospitalization last month. The “Star Wars” icon, who has written previously about her struggles with mental illness and addiction, explained her side in a new People magazine story (some of it only in print; not all included in the Web post). “Metaphors be with you” –  get it? That’s pretty good!
