Charlie Daniels is recovering after getting a pacemaker implanted, his publicist said Thursday. The Grand Ole Opry star, 76, checked into a hospital earlier this week with a mild case of pneumonia and then was diagnosed with an irregular heartbeat. This has required the cancellation of a few concerts, but if you had plans to see him April 11 in Lynchburg, you’re in luck — it’s still on. The man behind ’70s fiddle-anthems like “The Devil Went Down to Georgia” has resurfaced lately as a conservative celebvocate who protested a federal raid of the Gibson Guitar factory involving illegally imported wood.
