“I felt so great. I felt like a tank. I felt like a large mammal. A big beast. . . . I was solid, man. It’s terrible to be thin and wispy, because, you know, you could get knocked over by a strong wind or something. Fat is beautiful.”

Jim Morrison of The Doors in a 1969 audio interview just now exhumed (and animated, for YouTube purposes) by PBS Digital Studios. The late Doors frontman happily recalled his years tipping the scales at 185 pounds, thanks to his generous college dining hall plan. “What’s wrong with being fat?” he asked. “I don’t see anything wrong with being fat.”
