Brief news from here and elsewhere:

Once again, the journalists beat the lawmakers in the fifth annual Congressional Women’s Softball Game, which managed to wrap up before skies opened. Sounds like all the interesting action was on the sidelines, though: “Pom-pom waving squad of cheerleaders led by former Rep. Jo Ann Emerson (R-Mo.), which included Rep. Teri Sewell (D-Ala.). Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) hovered on the sidelines, heckling the journos’ coach. . . Steny H. Hoyer danced to the Alicia Keys’ tune, ‘Girl on Fire.’” (In the Loop)

The mayor’s about to become a grandfather: Mike Bloomberg’s equestrian-socialite daughter Georgina is expecting a baby with her “handsome Argentine equestrian” boyfriend, Ramiro Quintana. (NY Post)

Another social media platform for the first lady (and/or her staff): A first photo — an image from the Africa trip, appears on the michelleobama Instagram feed. (Post Politics)
