Former senator Scott Brown’s daughter Arianna spent nearly a week in a Virginia hospital after getting bitten by a cat at her job as a veterinary technician.
The details remained hazy: Although the recent Syracuse grad states on Facebook that she works at the Washington Humane Society, the group declined to discuss the matter, citing HR policy.
In his own Facebook posting, the Massachusetts Republican said that she needed surgery “to scrape, irrigate, tendon and bone,” adding that “it became so serious, so early because of the location and depth of the bite.” He did not return calls Monday.
Scott Giacoppo, a WHS vice president, spoke to us in general terms: “I’ve been bitten by hundreds of cats and I’ve never had [a] negative reaction. I’ve known other people who have had a small bite and their whole arm has swollen up.” If it happens to you? Wash for 10 to 15 minutes with disinfectant soap and call your doctor, he said.
