Another shutdown shutout, this one diplomatic: Greece’s Prime Minister Antonis Samaras was scheduled to attend the opening party Wednesday night for the National Gallery’s “Heaven and Earth: Art of Byzantium from Greek Collections,” along with several Greek cultural reps. Alas, the museums have been shut down — and so has the party, reports our colleague Katherine Boyle; Samaris, in the U.S. for meetings at the UN and IMF, will go home after meeting Joe Biden, without having seen the exhibit. Sorry, sir — hope you didn’t come all the way here for it. We understand you’ve got some good art back home too.
