“It was like hell, going to work every day in hell with Satan.”

– Mariah Carey about what it was like working on “American Idol,” presumably thanks to her fellow judge and nemesis Nicki Minaj. Wow, Mariah, don’t hold back. She and Minaj were embroiled in quite the feud on the singing competition series, so this isn’t really a surprise — we just didn’t expect her to be quite so candid. “Honestly? I hated it,” the singer told New York DJ Angie Martinez during an interview Wednesday (coincidentally, Martinez was once upon a time an “Idol” judge before quitting after two episodes). Carey says she thought she would be on a three-person judging panel with her old pal and former bass player Randy Jackson. But then, Minaj signed on, and everything went haywire. Later, Carey tried to backtrack: “Just playing, it didn’t affect me that much,” she explained. “I was disappointed.”
