“When I did research for ‘The Butler’ I became very angry at white people.”

– Lee Daniels at the IFP Gotham Independent Film Awards Monday night, reports Deadline. The film’s director told the crowd that revisiting history was upsetting, but that he learned from star Forest Whitaker “not be a stereotypical angry black man. . .I had to step above it and pretend it wasn’t there.”
