Ronan Farrow gets MSNBC show

Ronan Farrow, a onetime obscure State Department employee … oh, wait, no, he’s also the son of actress Mia Farrow and director Woody Allen … is finally getting his own daytime MSNBC show.

MSNBC has given Farrow a time slot for his new show, part of a shuffling of the news network's daytime schedule. Farrow (whose mom recently suggested in Vanity Fair that Ronan’s dad was “possibly” Frank Sinatra) has more going for him than famous genes: aside from that prestigious gig at State (his title: Special Adviser on Humanitarian and NGO Affairs, Afghanistan and Pakistan, at the State Department), he’s a Rhodes scholar who was admitted to law school at age 16.

Farrow, whose been in MSNBC’s sights for a while, will host an hour-long program debuting Feb. 24 at 1 p.m. MSNBC contributor Joy Reid also will host a new program at 2 p.m., Variety reports, bumping Andrea Mitchell and Tamron Hall’s show’s up an hour.

Few details are available yet on Farrow’s show, but given his background in foreign policy, it’s likely to include a global perspective. Though perhaps some pop culture should be in the mix? Farrow’s prolific tweeting (remember his reaction when Allen was honored at the Golden Globes?) recently included commentary on Sunday evening’s Grammy awards ceremony.
