Jill Biden: no clapping for six weeks after wrist break

Poor Jill Biden, who watched last night’s State of the Union address from the gallery above the House floor. She struggled to clap — which, along with giving standing ovations and chatting with one’s seatmates – is just about the only thing one does at such an event.

Her arm was in a cast (stylish camouflage, likely in honor of her work with the troops) and sling, which the second lady artfully draped with a pashmina scarf. The AP reports that Biden fell last week and broke her left wrist. She’ll have the cast on for about six weeks.
