Hey isn’t that… Commerce Secretary Penny Pritzker, CNN’s Wolf Blitzer, Senator Dick Durbin, Rep. Robin Kelly, lobbyist Lyndon Boozer, former RNC chair Michael Steele, and a host of other marquee names sipping champagne and knocking back oysters on the half shell at the grand opening of Joe’s Seafood, Prime Steak & Stone Crab on Wednesday night.

A Miami staple with franchises in Chicago and Las Vegas, Joe’s is known for the rare Florida stone crab in season from October through May. Wednesday’s opening drew a crowd of about 1,000 to the 2-level 225-seat restaurant. To combat the cold guests entered the 15th street location less than a block from the White House through a heated tent with a teal carpet lined with palm trees (an ode the resto’s Miami roots).

But Washington has made its own mark on Joe’s, which will remain open late (until midnight Mondays through Saturdays) – a personal request we’re told came from the Washington Capitols team, which makes a habit of heading to Joe’s Chicago location after playing against the Blackhawks in the Windy City.
