Hey isn’t that… Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley and newly minted Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe redefining the meaning of power hour at Nopa Kitchen + Bar in Penn Quarter on Friday night. The governors, both in town for the biannual National Governors Association meeting, enjoyed cocktails while chatting with billionaire businessman Robert Johnson and Orioles president Peter G. Angelos. We’d love to have been flies on those martini glasses. After an hour of schmoozing, O’Malley and McAuliffe headed to the Newseum for the Democratic governors’ dinner.
… Texas Gov. Rick Perry having lunch at Burger, Tap & Shake in Foggy Bottom on Sunday afternoon. The governor sat at the counter with a friend while his security detail dined close by. We’re told he surprisingly skipped the Tejas burger and went with the Six-Buck Chuck, which features “Government Cheese (aka American).” Perry was dressed casually in jeans and a hat bearing the “Seal Team Eight” logo, said our tipster, who added that the governor was always sporting his now ubiquitous black-rimmed “hipster glasses.”
