Which Washington hotels are celebrity haunts?

Chateau Marmont isn’t planning to open a Washington outpost anytime soon (or ever), but the District still gets more than its fair share of glittering guests — and every VIP needs a roof over his perfectly coiffed head. So where does the A-list shack up locally? According to our sources, ground zero for celebrity sightings is the Four Seasons in Georgetown. But that’s hardly the only game in town.

It’s all about location, location, location. When actor Owen Wilson was in town to shoot the movie “How Do You Know,” he stayed at a far-out hotel-that-shall-not-be-named. After just one night, Wilson and crew migrated to the Four Seasons in Georgetown because “they liked being around the center of everything. That’s always a no-brainer.” The 4,000-square-foot Royal Suite, with a bulletproof glass, private entrance (so you don’t have to face gawking fans in the lobby) is a plus.

The classic, storied hotel is the choice for VIPs seeking a real Washington feel. Its location makes it convenient for White House visitors, including George Clooney and Matt Damon, who our sources say stayed there last week when they attended a presidential movie screening.

Ultra-discreet and non-starstruck staff are a draw, too, we hear.

Capella, 1050 31st St. NW

Less than a year old, the Capella is the new kid on the luxury-hotel block. So there’s no word yet on which A-listers have been taking in the sweeping views from the guests-only rooftop, although we did spot Tim Gunn having a cocktail in the Rye Bar last fall. What sets Capella apart is the fact that it flies under the radar — add to that Pratesi sheets and a 24/7 Personal Assistant (the capitalization is theirs). The hotel’s concierge motto is “As long as it’s legal, moral and ethical.”

The Graham, 1075 Thomas Jefferson St. NW

Expect to find the next generation of jet-setters at this sleek boutique hotel, where legend has it Frank Sinatra once frequented. According to our source, Old Blue Eyes might not be the hotel’s only claim to celeb fame in the near feature, with several big-name White House Correspondents’ Dinner invitees already clamoring for one of the 30 suites.

W Washington D.C., 515 15th St. NW

A short list of the stars spotted at this ultra hip hot spot: Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Jay-Z, Sean Combs, designer Calvin Klein, actors Jon Hamm, Sean Penn, Bradley Cooper and new “Late Night” host Seth Meyers. Just a few weeks ago Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese were seen on the W’s famous rooftop having a spot of tea no less. People watching aside, the hotel’s VIP suite, called the E-Wow, has a bathtub that overlooks the Washington Monument.  Talk about stars and suds.
