They just don’t make life-long bachelors like they used to. George Clooney, that handsome poster child for the single and loving it set, is reportedly engaged to lawyer Amal Alamuddin, according to People magazine. The 52-year-old Oscar-winner and the 36-year-old lawyer who represented WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, were first spotted together last October. But that same month Clooney (and his publicist) shot down those romantic rumors, which also included actress Katie Holmes and model Monika Jakisic.

“He wants Amal to be able to prosecute cases without being hassled because she had one dinner with George and four others,” Stan Rosenfield, Clooney’s publicist, told People in October.

In February, the “not a couple” couple was spotted sporting matching Mardi Gras beads at the Willard Hotel in Washington. Clooney was in town for the White House screening of his  film, “The Monuments Men,” and Alamuddin tagged along.

According to the People story the couple got engaged recently and are trying to keep things “very low key.” Good luck with that.
