Ahead of the weekend whirlwind, most of Washington’s on-air TV news talent is gathered at a poolside party at PR maven Gloria Dittus’s Kalorama home. Over white wine and shrimp cocktails, attendees compare tips for surviving the weekend. “You’re not going to sleep a lot,” explains CNN’s Dana Bash. “So you just have to suck it up.”

Small-screen Washington and the real D.C. collide as Politico’s Mike Allen interviews “Scandal” cast member Dan Bucatinsky, who played a former White House journalist who sleeps with the president’s chief of staff and then becomes the press secretary. Jeff Perry plays that chief of staff. The two took to the stage with Dee Dee Myers and Andy Card, who held the same roles for Bill Clinton and George W. Bush, respectively.

Friday, 12:04 p.m.
One minute, a guy dressed as Teen Wolf runs through the audience; a few seconds later, it’s, “Please welcome Vice President Joe Biden!” That’s just sort of the way it goes at the Creativity Conference, the Hollywood and tech-themed event at the Newseum.
