Drill, baby, drill? Rep. Cynthia Lummis, the Wyoming Republican whose real-estate portfolio is worth millions, and her family recently sold a 5,000 acre ranch they owned — and now an oil developer is drilling on the property.
Lummis and her family sold the ranch to a limited liability company, which quickly sold it to the Houston energy company that used to go by the name Enron (it’s EOG Resources these days), the AP is reporting.
Lummis, who sits on the House Natural Resources Committee, told the AP that she has a minority interest in her family’s ranching operations, and sale of the land southeast of Cheyenne was a “value-for-value land exchange that resulted in no profit or loss.”
Still, the deal is raising eyebrows in Wyoming, with Dan Neal, director of the Equality State Policy Center government watchdog group, telling the AP that congresswoman should divulge more about it.
