Jill Biden might be on to something here. The Second Lady joined a group of local newswomen on Wednesday night for a breast cancer fundraiser, and she offered advice for helping girlfriends who are fighting the disease.

“The little things matter,” Biden told the pink-clad audience at the Newsbabes Bash for Breast Cancer. “Once during a down period in my life, a friend bought me a red Chanel lipstick: It was a small gesture that made all the difference.”

Cosmetic therapy? Works like a charm in our book.

Biden joined hosts  WUSA9’s Lesli Foster and Andrea Roane, NBC4’s Angie Goff and Eun Yang, WJLA’s Rebecca Cooper and Alison Starling, and FOX 5’s Sue Palka, Shawn Yancy, and Laura Evans,  Bloomberg’s Megan Hughes, and WTOP’s Hillary Howard at the event, held at the Powerhouse in Georgetown, which organizers say raised more than $30,000.

That’s a lot of lipstick.
