You’re more likely to find local ABC7 news anchor Maureen Bunyan at a news desk than a round table, despite her recently acquired status as a knight.
The Aruba native on Friday was inducted into The Order of Orange-Nassau, a Dutch civic chivalric order, at the grade of Knight. The honor is given to “those who deserve recognition for exemplary contributions to society,” according to a press release.
The fancy-sounding status comes with a bit of bling — a pin Bunyan can wear on her shoulder when she wants to look particularly impressive — but not, alas, a title, though we hear her proud WJLA colleagues have taken to greeting her around the newsroom with mock bows and curtsies.
