Talk about art and reality doing a double take. D.C.’s “Mayor for Life,” Marion Barry, is apparently a big fan of HBO’s “Game of Thrones,” specifically the oft-misunderstood character Tyrion Lannister. Tyrion (played by Peter Dinklage) gets “set up” by a former paramour who testifies against him in the fourth season of the medieval political drama. Seriously.
Of all the characters, and there are/were many on #GameOfThrones, Tyrion is my favorite.

Barry, 78, who is fluent in Internet lingo (he once tweeted “#YOLO :)” to District Rep. Eleanor Holmes Norton) tweeted after the season finale on Sunday night, “Of all the characters, and there are/were many on #GameOfThrones, Tyrion is my favorite.” Soon after a member of Barry’s 12,000-deep Twitter clique tweeted back, “b—- set him up!” parroting one of Barry’s most infamous lines following his 1990 arrest for cocaine possession. Not missing a beat, the former mayor responded, “Yeah, I must admit he was indeed set up but….he lives to tell about it. LOL!” (That tweet has since been deleted but was captured in the screen grabbed exchange.)
So, things we learned about Mr. Barry today? One, he likes epic fantasy dramas that eerily mirror his life and two, he can laugh at himself.
