Hey isn’t that … Bellatrix Lestrange (or actress Helena Bonham Carter for those unversed in the wizarding world of “Harry Potter”) dining at the Oval Room on Thursday night? Carter arrived promptly at 6:45 p.m. (the Brits are nothing if not prompt) with six representatives from the British Embassy, according to our source. Ditching her usual goth-meet-glam look, Carter wore a floral summer dress with a humidity-proof updo.
The actress, we’ve learned, is in town as a member of U.K. Prime Minister David Cameron’s Holocaust Commission and visited Washington’s U.S. Holocaust Memorial museum. The commission is traveling across the country investigating new ways to educate the British public about the Holocaust. Carter’s maternal grandfather, former Spanish diplomat Eduardo Propper de Callejon, helped hundreds of Jews escape Nazi-occupied France during World War II.
