Even on her wedding day, Arianna Brown, the daughter of New Hampshire senate hopeful Scott Brown, can’t get a break from politics.
On Sunday, the 23-year-old will marry Jim Hendry, also 23, a former legislative intern in her dad’s old Senate office. Sen. Kelly Ayotte (R-N.H.) will officiate the ceremony, which is being held at the Flag Hill winery in Lee, N.H.
After losing his Senate seat to Democrat Elizabeth Warren in 2012, Brown is now the frontrunner for the Republican nomination for Senate in New Hampshire.
To celebrate the occasion, the former senator posted a picture of his wedding to former broadcast journalist Gail Huff on Throwback Thursday.
“This Saturday marks 28 years since I married my best friend.” wrote Brown. “Gail and I could not be happier to celebrate our wedding anniversary, just one day before our daughter, Arianna, walks down the aisle. #tbt #nhpolitics”
Back in 2010, then-Sen. Brown (R-Mass.) famously broadcast Arianna’s (and her older sister Ayla’s) relationship status during a televised victory speech. Going off the cuff, Brown included an embarrassing bit of TMI: “And just in case anyone who’s watching throughout the country–yes, they’re both available.” Aw-kward.
Brown then tried–and failed–to clean up the verbal spillage with even more info. “Only kidding, only kidding.” he said. “Arianna’s definitely not available.”
Now four years later, as his youngest daughter heads down the aisle and her father hopes to head back to Washington, politics is once again becoming personal. And if the political photo ops at Arianna’s nuptials aren’t enough, there’s always older daughter Ayla’s wedding. Ayla, 26, a country music singer and semi-finalist on the fifth season of “American Idol,” will wed former baseball player Keith Weiser, 29, at the couple’s home in Tennessee in August.
