“The knee-jerk reaction is to go for another traditional, behind-the-desk interview show. But we are looking for all types of hosts, there is the political world, not just the comic world.”

– CBS Entertainment president Nina Tassler on the network’s search for a new face to fill “Late Late Show” host Craig Ferguson’s seat after he leaves the show at the end of this year.

Tassler, making an appearance at the bi-annual Television Critics Association media tour on Thursday, emphasized the “the political world” as a potential pool of talent. But who would be the best fit from that world? Are we talking about a talking head like MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow, the always affable Anthony Weiner or someone like former-candidate-turned-pundit Sarah Palin?

Recently Palin sparked rumors that she was eyeing a spot at “The View” table, suggesting in a interview with Hollywood Reporter that the long-running ABC gab fest needed a co-host “willing to go rogue.”
