Since rumors of their impending nuptials began swirling in April, actor George Clooney and his fiancée, British lawyer Amal Alamuddin, have perfected the celebrity-approved silent confirmation.
The couple, who began dating last October, have yet to issue a joint statement acknowledging what we all already know — until now.
Recently, Clooney, 53, and Alamuddin, 36, obtained a marriage license in London and a signed notice announcing their plan to wed was posted outside of the Chelsea Old Town Hall. Apparently putting your marital business in the streets is a legal requirement for British citizens.
The folded notice, which has since been taken down, visibly read in part, “I Amal Ramzi Alamuddin of London, give you notice that I and George Timothy Clooney of Studio City, Los Angeles California … ” We can guess the rest.

It also lists Alamuddin’s “condition” (read: marital status) as “single” and Clooney’s as “previous marriage dissolved.”
In 1989, Clooney married actress Talia Balsam (she plays Mona Sterling on “Mad Men”) in Las Vegas. They got divorced three years later. According to the recent marriage notice, Clooney and Alamuddin plan to wed in Italy.
This famous pair can’t seem to avoid the paper trail.
In July, Clooney, who had yet to officially announce his engagement (or his relationship for that matter), shamed the Daily Mail for printing a false story about family troubles in the wedding planning process. Later that month, Clooney told Variety that he was “marrying up.”
