Hunter Biden: Amateur cook and embarrassing dad

Hunter Biden, son of Vice President Joe Biden, got a chance to hone both his culinary skills and his bad dad jokes at an event for the United Nations World Food Program Wednesday evening.

Biden, who chairs the organization’s U.S. fundraising wing, and two of his daughters were the guinea pigs for a cooking demonstration with Cava Mezze chef Dimitri Moshovitis. All of the restaurant’s three locations will be donating 25 cents to the WFP’s School Meals program for every dish purchased from Sept. 1 to 16.

At Wednesday’s event, which announced Cava Mezze’s campaign, Biden was mainly focused on the food in front of him. He let the chef and his teenage daughters, Finnegan and Maisy, do most of the work of prepping the food — chickpea burgers on brioche buns.

“I’m definitely not the expert except in the eating part,” Biden said.

In typical dad fashion, Biden made sure to check the nutritional value of the meal, and asked Moshovitis if he could get the girls to do the dishes once the burgers were on the grill. To the teenagers’ credit, neither rolled her eyes.

CORRECTION: In earlier versions, only one of Cava Mezze’s locations was mentioned. All three will be fundraising for the WFP’s School Meals program.
