Britney Spears responds to Katy Perry’s VMA throwback outfit
Of course she loved it. There was major fashion déjà vu on Sunday night when Katy Perry showed up to the MTV VMAs with rapper Riff Raff in matching denim-on-denim ensembles a la Britney Spears and her then-boyfriend Justin Timberlake at the 2001 American Music Awards, and now Spears has made her approval known.
Perry tweeted “I did my best impression, hope you likey!” directly at the “Toxic” songstress Sunday night and a few hours later, Spears tweeted back “Just when I thought the denim dress had retired….you bring it back! You looked amazing tonight bb ;).”
Perry dragged the platinum-grilled rapper Riff Raff along the red carpet to promote their new song “This is How We Do” and ended up winning Best Female Video for her hit “Dark Horse,” so perhaps the bejeweled patched denim look brought some good luck along with a serious dose of early aughts nostalgia.

Henry Rollins apologizes
Punk legend and D.C. native Henry Rollins has apologized for his L.A. Weekly column published last Thursday, entitled “F*** Suicide,” in which he criticized late comedian Robin Williams for killing himself. The column praised Williams’ comedic talents and work on USO tours, but then Rollins went on to note that he regards people who have committed suicide “with a bit of disdain.” “I know they existed, yet they have nullified their existence because they willfully removed themselves from life,” he wrote. “They were real but now they are not.”
After the column drew outrage, the former Black Flag frontman, 53, took to his website on Saturday to apologize. “That I hurt anyone by what I said, and I did hurt many, disgusts me. It was not at all my intent but it most certainly was the result,” he wrote. Later in the post, he says that he has “had a life of depression.”
“I am not asking for a break from the caning, take me to the woodshed as much as you see fit. If what I said has caused you to be done with me, I get it,” he continued. “I am deeply sorry. Down to my marrow. I can’t think that means anything to you, but I am. Completely sorry. It is not of my interest to hurt anyone but I know I did.”
Prince to release two new albums this September
The multi-talented, cane-wielding musician Prince will drop two new albums on the same day next month, according to Pitchfork. The Purple One’s all-female band 3rd Eye Girl — guitarist Donna Grantis, drummer Hannah Ford Welton and bassist Ida Nielsen — stopped by “Good Morning America” on Monday to announce that on Sept. 30, 3rd Eye Girl and Prince will release an album titled “PlectrumElectrum,” and Prince, 56, will also release a solo LP titled “Art Official Age.” The trio then showed off both of the albums’ appropriately psychedelic cover art.
“Art Official Age” is Prince’s first studio album since 2010’s “20Ten.”

Also on Wednesday, Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz, 35, and his model girlfriend Meagan Camper, 25, welcomed their first child together, a son named Saint Lazslo, People reports.
