Neil Young to divorce wife of 36 years
Rock and folk musician Neil Young, 68, has filed for a divorce from wife and frequent music collaborator Pegi Young after 36 years of marriage, according to Rolling Stone and public documents from San Mateo County, Calif., the couple’s current hometown. A court hearing for the divorce is scheduled for Dec. 12.
Pegi served as the inspiration for some of Young’s well-known love songs, including “Such a Woman” and “Unknown Legend.” The couple met in the early 70s at a restaurant near Neil’s California ranch, where Pegi worked as a waitress. Pegi began singing backing vocals on the “Philadephia” singer’s tours in 1990 and last performed with him in 2013 at a benefit for the Bridge School, an education center the couple co-founded for children with physical and speech impairments. The school was created in honor of their son Ben, who suffers from cerebral palsy.
Pegi is also a solo singer and recently completed her own nationwide tour. The former duo were initially announced as performers at the upcoming Farm Aid concert in North Carolina, but Pegi’s name has since been removed from the official lineup.
The couple have two grown children together, Ben and daughter Amber Jean. Neil has another son Zeke from a previous relationship.
Jessica Alba’s Honest Co. valued at almost $1 billion
Selling eco-friendly diapers and other home products has been quite lucrative for “Sin City” and “Dark Angel” star Jessica Alba . The Honest Company, which she co-founded in 2011, raised $70 million in preparation for an IPO to reach a valuation just shy of $1 billion, according to Wall Street Journal.
Early investor Jeremy Liew from Lightspeed Venture Partners, said Alba, 33, has enough star power to bring global success for her 275-employee company. The company is also in talks to expand to China, according to Dow Jones VentureWire.
“[Alba] is an international star,” Liew said. “We’re starting to see a lot of demand from her fans around the world. This idea for non-toxic, chemical free products has resonated around the world in developed and developing countries.”
