Drama seems to follow crooner Chris Brown around like a rabid groupie, but one aspect of his Washington legal battle ended Tuesday with a whimper: Brown pleaded guilty to punching a fan back in October, our Washington Post colleague Keith Alexander reports.
Brown, accompanied from the courthouse by girlfriend Karrueche Tran, uttered two words that seemed unlikely to come from his mouth, as he had vowed to fight the misdemeanor assault charges facing him: “I’m sorry,” he said, per Alexander’s reporting.
The judge ordered no jail time for Brown, whose Washington arrest put him in violation of the probation terms stemming from his 2009 assault of then-girlfriend, pop singer Rihanna. He served almost three months in a California jail for violating probation and four months in anger management rehabilitation.
The spectacle might not be over entirely, though. Brown’s victim, a local man named Parker Adams, has filed a $1.5 million civil lawsuit against Brown and his bodyguard Chris Hollosy, who was found guilty of misdemeanor assault in connection with the incident.
