Another day, another wedding rumor.
According to groom-to-be George Clooney’s publicist, Stan Rosenfield, President Obama was not invited to the formerly-confirmed-bachelor’s upcoming wedding to human rights attorney Amal Alamuddin.
“He has more important things to do,” said Rosenfield of Obama in an interview with the Reliable Source.
The National Enquirer (yes that National Enquirer) reported last week that actress Angelina Jolie, whose new husband Brad Pitt is rumored to be Clooney’s best man, RSVP’d yes to the A-list nuptials only after learning that Obama would be in attendance.
None of that is true, said Rosenfield, who declined to comment on the rest of the whispered details of his client’s wedding.
“As far as the other rumors flying back and forth, we don’t comment on them. Too many are false,” he added.
The high-flying hearsay includes the Sept. 20 date; the private Venetian island venue; the glamorous guest list including “Ocean’s Eleven” co-stars Julia Roberts and Matt Damon; the bride’s Oscar de la Renta gown and the groom’s Giorgio Armani tux.
Since entering office, the president has attended only a handful of happy days: The 2012 wedding of senior adviser and close friend Valerie Jarrett’s daughter, Laura, in Chicago; the intimate Rose Garden ceremony of White House photographer Pete Souza in 2013; and the wedding of Sam Kass, the first family’s personal chef, to MSNBC anchor Alex Wagner on Saturday in New York.
